Bowen Therapy

Gentle & Non-Invasive

Bowen Therapy is a soft tissue therapy that was developed by the late Tom Bowen in Geelong, Australia. The Bowen move is very distinctive and is applied at precise points on the body. It involves the movement of soft tissue and is designed to stimulate the tissue and nerve pathways. It addresses not only the musculoskeletal framework but also the fascia, nerves and internal organsThe technique works by acting on the autonomic nervous system, specifically the Parasympathetic Nervous System, which initiates a healing response. The body is in “rest and repair”. This allows the body to let go of held patterns of pain which brings the body into balance, promoting healing and well-being.

A Bowen therapist performs a series of light, precise moves over muscles, nerves and connective tissue. There are periodic and important pauses between each series of movements that offer time for your body to benefit from each set. Bowen therapy is safe for all ages, from newborns to the elderly, and is profound in its action producing lasting relief from pain and discomfort.

Can Bowen help me with menopause symptoms?

Hot flashes? Insomnia? Fatigue? Mood swings? Breast tenderness? Constipation? Bowen Therapy can alleviate symptoms related to perimenopause and menopause. Among the benefits are the reduction of physical, emotional and mental stress; improvement in joint mobility, circulation of lymphatics and the elimination of toxins.

Bowen introduces a state of ease and well being, helping to calm the nervous system.
